Leepa Valley is located in Jhelum Valley District of Azad Jammu & Kashmir. It is located 52 kms away from the capital city of Muzafarabad along the LOC. It’s a hill station open to tourists. The valley is at an altitude of 6200 feet AMSL. The surrounding heights are at an altitude of 8000 feet to 12000 feet AMSL. The valley receives snowfall from mid-December to April every year. From May to October, the weather remains pleasant. The temperature in winter drops to -20°C whereas summers are cooler with a temperature range of 10-26°C.
Relief of ground in the valley is from East to West conforming to the flow of Chota Katha Kazi Naq (a fresh water stream) flowing along it. On the southern side, is the Kafir Khan Range separating the valley from Muzafarabad and ,on the northern side, the valley is surrounded by Shamsa Bari Range.
Route
The route to the valley is from Muzafarabad along the road Muzafarabad – Chakothi. A road leading to Leepa valley is linked to the Muzafarabad – Chakothi at Neeli Bridge, 3 kms ahead of Hatian Bala. This road takes you to the valley via Reshian and Shergali en route.

Tourist Spots
Noukot Terraces are located right in the middle of the valley and present an iconic view. These are used by locals for farming red rice, multi colour beans and various crops in summers. There is a Noukot view point for tourists to view the beautiful terraces of the valley.
Wooden houses are common in the valley. The wooden infrastructure in the valley has unique Kashmiri Style windows and balconies made of Himalayan Cedar wood (Deodar). The famous spot is a multi-story wooden house built by a local of the valley. It represents a distinct Kashmiri Style of architecture.
Furniture Bazaar of Noukot is where you can buy pieces of Himalayan Cedar furniture and handicrafts.
Tilwari Bazaar of Tilwari village has all wooden shops. It is the biggest bazaar of the Leepa Valley besides the main Leepa Bazaar.

How Much Long Should I Stay?
Leepa Valley is a developing tourist site. There is not much to see in the valley except for visiting the above mentioned tourist sites and enjoying the scenic beauty and pleasant weather of this hill station. Guestrooms are available in the summers and winters at reasonable prices of Rs. 5000- 7000 per night. (Prices may change). It is a good place to visit for the weekend. You will have a calm weekend in a lush green valley surrounded by Himalayan Cedar Mountains.
