Last week’s floods in Thailand, Indonesia and Sri lanka have killed 1000 people while recovery is underway. Millions of people have been displaced whereas thousands are still missing.
Indonesia
Rescue efforts in Indonesia have been scaled up as the President has announced that help is on the way for the survivors. Communication in Indonesia broke down in parts hit by floods. Roads have been blocked by landslides. 502 people in Indonesia have been killed while 290,700 people have been displaced.
Sri Lanka
Floods hit tea-growing central hill country flooding homes, streets and roads, and triggered landslides. 335 people have been killed so far with 366 people still missing. 148,000 people in Sri Lanka have been displaced amid the disaster.
Thailand
The situation in Thailand is slowly returning to normal after 1.4 million households and 3.8 million people were affected by floods. 176 people have been killed in floods. Streets are being cleaned while tap water is being restored. Freshly cooked food for affected residents is being provided by public kitchens.
